The news of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai comeback has spread like wildfire in the last two days. Every social media platform was buzzing with the news and hoping for it to be true. And finally the fans have a reason to smile for the show is all set to return after a decade.
The producer of the show JD Majethia confirmed the news to a leading tabloid.
Producer JD Majethia told Mumbai Mirror, "We have received so much support from fans online some of whom have even volunteered to finance the show if it returns. During the discussion we agreed that none of us wanted a never-ending TV series but a shorter term online was a good idea. Once I return from my vacation, I will finalise the script and we will move on from there."
The show which featured a quintessential upper-class family residing in Mumbai, took the comedy scene on television by storm in 2005. It established a cult following.
Ratna Pathak Shah, who played Maya Sarabhai, was also quoted as saying, "I would love to play Maya, but being an iconic show the quality has to be better than the earlier series."
Directed by Deven Bhojani, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai had a stellar cast, boasting actors like Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, Rajesh Kumar, Arvind Vaidya and Rita Bhaduri.
The show had a successful run with 69 episodes.
